The Issue

For the first time since 1970, only one person will represent the City of St. Catharines at the Regional table - the Mayor. There will no longer be any councillors elected at large to have a seat at the Region representing the diverse population and interests of our city.

The Vision

Whomever is elected will be the sole voice for St. Catharines where budgets and policies are decided for housing, policing, water/waste water, public health, social services, infrastructure, and economic development. The budget at the Regional level is approximately one billion dollars ($1B), almost half of which is spent on policing.

What I will bring to the Regional table:
• Keep water and wastewater infrastructure and services public
• Increase the supply of public housing
• Introduce policy to protect transit operators from violence
• Push back on the Province from further downloading responsibilities to our municipalities
• Minimizing the impact of pressure on tax payers with alignment of shared resources across the region
