A New Way Forward
The privilege of serving as Mayor would carry an immense responsibility—one I take seriously. I want to be clear about both my vision and the limits of the role. A mayor is not a cure-all, and meaningful change doesn’t come from one office alone.
While current legislation allows for ‘Strong Mayor Powers,’ I fundamentally disagree with that approach. I believe in democratic governance and consensus-building. The role of Mayor should not be to impose an agenda, but to work with council to find solutions that reflect the will of the community. That’s what accountable leadership looks like.
